Crashing the A-List
by Summer Heacock
Genre: Romance/Adult/Contemporary
336 pages
Synopsis:
After four months of unemployment, former book editor Clara Montgomery is still stuck sleeping on her little brother’s ugly couch in Queens. Determined to keep her minuscule savings account intact, she takes a job clearing out abandoned storage units, but is in no way prepared for stumbling upon dead snakes or trying to identify exactly where the perpetual stench of beets is emanating from.
When Clara comes across a unit that was once owned by an escort service, she finds the brothel “résumé” of a younger Caspian Tiddleswich… an astonishingly famous British actor. Her best friend thinks she should sell the gossip to a tabloid to fund her way off the couch from hell, but Clara instead manages to track down Caspian’s contact info, intending to reassure him that her lips are sealed.
Unfortunately, Caspian misinterprets Clara’s attempt at altruism and shows up on her doorstep, accusing her of blackmail. When the paparazzi capture a photo of them together, Caspian’s PR team sees an opportunity to promote his latest film—and if Clara wants to atone for her “crimes,” she’ll have to play along. Pretending to be Caspian’s girlfriend seems like it will be a tolerable, if somewhat daunting, penance… until their fake romance becomes something more than either of them expected.

Review
I’m not gonna summarise the book in my review, read the synopsis, that’s the purpose of it.
To be honest I have expectations for this book to be cliche as heck. We all know the fake dating game is everywhere. A solid 95% of those books are super cliche, unoriginal and has the same freaking plot (aka 100% predictable ) But you know this is a guilty pleasure of mine reading these kind of books…….well depends on my mood but I sometimes do enjoy reading it. I also loveee hate-to-love romance :DD if anyone have any good recs please comment down below I’d hugely appreciate it.
I’m happy to announce this book is part of the 5%.
This book had me hate HATE Cas at first. He really pulled major asshole moves on Clara and I’m pissed reading it. Thank god Clara is a smart and strong women she can handle herself and stand strong (mostly) This book made me feel so bad for Clara I almost cried for her. T.T poor clara. It will make you feel for them. Does this make any sense?
You have to give credit to the author for the plots originality because I could not guess it most of it. And the reason for the way he treated her was kinda twisted but could be realistic in some sense which is kinda genius.
The pace runs at a nice speed and does not feel dragged on and yet could keep you reading till the end. You will enjoy it from the first page to the end. What I love about hate-to-love books is that they normally include witty convos and hilarious encounters which I enjoy reading a lot. This book is a light read/ beachy read? and can definitely give you a laugh while reading.
Bonus: There was a brief mention of Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans in the book, lets just say the author has good tastes.
Final rating:★★★★
I am such a sucker for these kind of tropes. I enjoy them way more than I care to admit. I am probably gonna read this one as well. Is it still available on Netgalley? I would recommend The Fill-In Boyfriend and By Your Side both by Kasie West. I loved them 😍

I’ve had my eye on this book for a while and I’m so glad it lives up to the hype! *runs around* aaaaaahhh!
I’m also a fan of the hate-to-love trope but it takes a certain type of writing to make the chemistry work even after the hate turns to love. I’m glad you liked it!! *whispers* Have you checked out Jennifer L. Armentrout’s Lux series?

I am literal trash for that type of reading trope. Like when there is a good book written with that trope I will literally binge read it. I haven’t gotten this book but now I definitely want to. Thank you for your review.
